Retired in 2000 from a career in the graphic communications industry, Gaston Henault subsequently opted for a life in the forest and became a black bear hunting guide and a fishing guide for different outfitters in Quebec.
Added to this was a 7-year period working in the field of bush aviation which led him to travel to all regions of Quebec, particularly the Côte-Nord and the Hautes-Laurentides, and thus be able to closely observe several wild animals in their natural habitat.
In 2007, he designed a training program for hunting and fishing guides. In 2013, he set up a training program for unexpected encounters with wild animals in the forest and since that time has provided training sessions to several groups of specialists, university students and researchers who are sent to remote aeras in Northern Quebec, Alaska and Yukon.
The training program is now offered online and addressed to all outdoor enthusiasts in remote areas.
